Redcurrants, sweet tobacco and flowers with some sandalwood. Very perfumed and floral. So pure. Full-bodied, yet so refined and layered, with a soft, compact palate and a crushed-velvet mouth-feel. Poised fruit at the end, together with fresh, rare wood and a light chocolate undertone to the aftertaste.
Blend: 60% Merlot & 40% Cabernet Franc.
 
History of Chateau Angelus:
Château Angélus is a well regarded wine estate based in the Saint-Emilion region of northeastern Bordeaux. The property sits on a coveted spot just west of Saint-Émilion town, on a gentle, south-facing slope on the Saint-Émilion plateau. It produces a sumptuous, long-lived Merlot - Cabernet Franc wine that is regularly highly rated by critics. In the first-ever classification of Saint-Emilion wines in 1954, Chateau Angélus was a Grand Cru Classé. Already at the time, it benefitted from a solid reputation, which helped it survive the Bordeaux wine crisis of 1973 and take part in the oenological renewal of the 1980’s. This was the context in which Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, a graduate oenologist from Bordeaux University, took advantage of this marvellous wine’s illustrious past, while being resolutely turned towards the future and launched and continued to implement an ambitious, innovative policy in favour of achieving excellence in wine growing and making. 
The "grand vin" is aged in new oak for around 18 months prior to bottling. It then spends at least five years in bottle before it is released, but can be aged for much longer as Angélus's concentration, weight and structure reguarly allows the wine to evolve over decades.
