The 2020 Volnay Santenots 1er Cru was the first vineyard harvested and even so, I feel this is the one cuvée with suggestions of slight sur-maturité. The palate is medium-bodied pliant tannins, quite sweet and candied, fleshy with wild strawberry, raspberry and white pepper towards the finish.
Santenots is a highly regarded Premier Cru vineyard that, for red Pinot Noir wines, falls under the Volnay appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune sub-region. Santenots Pinot Noir reds are usually lush and rich with good structure, ripe tannins and good ageability.
