94-Point by Burghound.

This is the first wine to display overtly generous wood and it fights somewhat with the fresh and cool aromas of red and dark currants, violet, earth and ample sauvage character. The dense, serious and well-muscled big-bodied flavors possess good minerality as well as plenty of sappy dry extract before terminating in a very firm and somewhat rustic and austere finale.

Combe au Moine is a Premier Cru climat of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation in the northern Cote de Nuits wine region. This vineyard is one of the most elevated in Burgundy, reaching nearly 400 meters (1,300ft) above sea level. Combe au Moine is bounded by other east-facing Premier Cru climats, Les Cazetiers and Champeaux among them. The wines made here from Pinot Noir are structured and relatively rustic, exhibiting bright red fruit alongside earthy characters. The name of the vineyard, Combe au Moine, means "monk's combe" in French, and is thought to refer to the monks who constructed the nearby Chateau de Gevrey-Chambertin.
