92-Points by Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy)

An intense bright fresh purple. Quite punchy on the nose, in a good way, and with a certain amount of oak showing on the palate. Good acidity, more than tannins, and a fresh vigorous red berry fruit throughout.

The origin of the word "Cras" comes from "rocky hillsides", a term often used to describe a vineyard whose soil is made of rubble and pebbly stones. This parcel's soil is gravelly with a high quality red clay that is very typical of Pommard.

  • Bouzereau familly is growing vines in Meursault for seven generations. The estate, enlarged over the years, is now about 10.5 hectares. Jean-Baptiste, son of Michel, took over the estate in 1999.
  • What makes Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils stand out is its emphasis on vineyards, both in their insistence on working prime locations and in the attention to detail of the farming that is carried out. The quality of grapes is paramount, hewing to the adage that only excellent grapes can make excellent wines. Soil health is a prime focus, as is maintenance of healthy vines throughout the growing season, with careful pruning and yield management. Jean Baptiste decided to start working organically in 2005 and has slowly moved toward biodynamic principles in the past 10 years, without seeking any certification, so only natural products are used in the vineyards.

  • Michel Bouzereau produces various white and red wines. Believing a good wine can only be made with high quality grapes, Michel and Jean-Baptiste take great care of their vineyard. They hand harvest their grapes, and the wines are aged in oak barrels or tanks (according to the wine characteristics) before bottling.
  • Bourgogne Blanc, Meursault"Les Grands Charrons", Meursault "Le Limozin", Meursault "Les Tessons", Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru, Meursault-Charmes 1er Cru, Meursault-Genevrières 1er Cru, Meursault-Perrières 1er Cru, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Le Cailleret : White Wines
  • Red Wines : Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Pommard "Les Cras", Volnay 1er Cru Les Aussy, Beaune 1er Cru Les Vignes Franches
  • White Bourgogne
  • The vineyards of Meursault, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, lay on an exceptional terroir between calcareous and marl soils. White Meursault has a pale gold color with greenish tones. Meursault "Genevrieres" from Bouzereau estate has a fresh nose, its minerality reflects the soil. This wine remains well-balanced and very stylish.
